|The club's contribution to
the 46th Bristol Model Railway Exhibition
at Thornbury Leisure Centre was Trevor
Powell's "Rainford Stoops" OO
in 00 gauge, Rainford Stoops is the HQ of
the fictional heritage West Lancashire
Railway. The station layout at Rainford
Stoops is loosely based on the main
operational area at Tenterden on the Kent
& East Sussex Railway.
Using a scheme from
adapted diagram from the K&ESR, it
operates as a gala day (steam only,
diesel only and mixed operation), in the
life of a preserved railway. Locos come
up from the locosheds to take out their
various trains stored in the station
sidings to the other end of the line, ie
the fiddle yard.
After an early
scare when the station loop went dead,
Paul Lansdell was able to solder in
replacement droppers on the loop which
worked very well afterwards.
There was an
excellent turnout of members to operate
the layout and to assist in stewarding
duites on all three daysof members
Pleasingly, the layout received some
aplogises for the quantity and quality of
photographs at the show!
